Hi all... my name is Jonas Cepkauskas, and I'm the new (old) captain of this vessel. Let me explain. I was diagnosed by Dr. Gomez from the University of Chicago around 1995. At that time, he was at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. About a year later, after finding there was no ataxia group in the Chicago area, I decided to form one.

That was easier said than done, as social networking wasn't around yet. However, with hard work and perseverance, our first meeting was held at St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island. I continued to run the group for about 6 or 7 years, and had to step down.

Craig  Lisack, and then Dick Carr took over, and meetings were moved to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. The time has come once again to hand over the reigns ( this happened about 2010 or 2011).  With some new ideas, and a new outlook, we hope to meet as many of you as possible.

We meet on the 3rd Sunday of odd numbered months.
Next get-together is Sunday, Sept 16th at Good Samaritan Hospital ...3815 Highland Ave in Downers Grove starting at 1:00 pm in White/Blue Oak room. Use emergency entrance.
Free parking garage right there.
Meeting room is right off the cafeteria.
Parties usually last 2 - 2 1/2 hours.
